TRANSIT
Restaurant Hamburg
Design 2017, Opening May 2019
The location of the first Hamburg TRANSIT restaurant on the ground floor of Schulterblatt 75, two houses to the right of Rote Flora, has has an eventful history. From “FixStern” to the café “Die Herren Simpel” and “Lukes Burger”, it has now changed into an Asian tapas bar.
The existing toilets were moved to the basement, all non-load-bearing walls have been removed to make room for an open kitchen and a spacious dining room. The restaurant has two levels, the bar and a guest room towards the street, 5 steps higher the kitchen and the large guest room and a winter garden with a view to the green inner courtyard, an oasis in the middle of the „Schanzenviertel”
The design theme was to draw this green from the outside to the inside and to create a modern, Asian atmosphere through hanging plants, cherry blossoms, varnished bamboo sticks, red lanterns and red neon writing. Walls and ceilings were painted anthracite to accentuate the individual elements with light. The polished pavement in connection with the tables in walnut wood creates the basis for the tasty tapas and is not too chic even in this hood.
The desired implementation of the company colour red was consistently accomplished only by red light.
